The science briefing

A fortnightly email on what was published in extracellular vesicle and regenerative aesthetics research, what it showed, and which grades moved.

What it is

One email a fortnight. Three fixed sections and nothing else.

  • Published this fortnight. What appeared, at what level of evidence, with the design stated rather than the conclusion. If a study is a cell culture study we say so in the first clause.
  • Grades that moved. Which claims changed position on our scale, in which direction, and against which line in the original panel.
  • One thing worth reading properly. A single paper or guidance document, with what to look for in the methods.

It is written for people who read methods sections. It does not summarise conclusions, because conclusions are the least reliable part of a paper and the part most likely to be written for a press release.

What it is not

Not a product newsletter. We do not announce launches, we do not carry supplier news, and we do not reproduce manufacturer claims even to disagree with them unless there is something specific to examine.

The sponsor line

Each issue carries one labelled sponsor line at the foot, separated by a rule, in the same typeface as the rest of the issue. It names the sponsor and carries one sentence supplied by them.

Sponsorship buys that line. It does not buy a mention in the editorial content, influence over what is covered, sight of the issue before it is sent, or any effect on an evidence grade. The rate is published on the rate card along with the full list of things that are not for sale.

Questions readers ask

How often is the briefing sent?

Once a fortnight, with three fixed sections: what was published and at what level of evidence, which grades moved and why, and one document worth reading properly.

Does the sponsor influence the content?

No. A sponsor line buys one labelled line at the foot of one issue. It buys no mention in the editorial content, no influence over coverage and no sight of the issue before it is sent.

What data do you store?

Your email address and the date you subscribed. Nothing else. We do not sell, rent or share it, and unsubscribing removes it.

Do you cover product launches?

No. This is not a product newsletter. We do not announce launches or carry supplier news, and we do not reproduce manufacturer claims unless there is something specific to examine.
